Isaiah 55, Inc.’s mission is to assist those who are living below the poverty line with basic food, necessities, and education that will improve their lives and help them move out of poverty.  In addition to direct gifts of food or goods, assistance for adults includes education on choosing nutritious food, growing food in community gardens, and food preparation lessons.  To help area youth break generational cycles of poverty, assistance has included summer employment opportunities, education about food choices, how to grow food, and how to prepare simple, nutritious meals; self-sufficiency and coping skills; and job skills and job-seeking skills that are needed to help them move up the economic ladder.

We desire to improve nutritional awareness and promote healthy eating habits by encouraging home gardening, providing fresh produce to the community and meal programs, and offering educational programs on topics such as nutrition and cooking.

Historically, all Isaiah 55, Inc services have been provided by a committed group of volunteers in the Mt. Auburn community to neighborhoods and nonprofits in Cincinnati, and as far away as Africa.  As interest in our organization has grown, and as we get more and more requests for services, we need funding to assist with capital improvements to the Isaiah 55, Inc. community building and start-up funding for our new program.

The current funding request of $5,000 will be used to finish repairs and upgrades to our community building which was donated to Isaiah 55, Inc. from an outside nonprofit organization in 2014. This building serves as both the headquarters of Isaiah 55, Inc. and as the community building that houses Isaiah 55, Inc’s programs. The funds will also help grow the community garden projects as well. We are in need of fencing and sheds for our gardens.
