Mission

The Emerald Ensemble enlightens the mind, uplifts the heart, and enriches the soul through great choral music presented with passion and skill. We envision a world made better through great choral music.

Description

The Emerald Ensemble is a professional chamber choir featuring the finest voices in the Seattle area conducted by Gary D. Cannon. We sing music of all periods and genres, with emphasis on classical choral repertoire. The Emerald Ensemble was formed in March 2016 with the idea of creating a professional choir which engaged the finest musical talent available. In short, the Emerald Ensemble will help to advance the state of the choral art in our area.

Beyond traditional concerts and recordings, we also bring music directly to locations where the arts rarely extend, such as schools, prisons, hospice care facilities, or homeless shelters. Our mission is to help all people through great choral music presented with passion and skill. By freely providing choral music to underserved groups, we hope to enrich and enliven a broad scope of listeners.

As a service to the singing community, the Emerald Ensemble has embarked upon a new, exciting project: the Emerald Choral Academy. In this series of interactive webinars, available to the public by registration, Seattle's leading professional ensemble singers teach their personal tricks of the trade. The videos are then made freely available to all. 

In the coming year, the Emerald Ensemble will return to in-person singing with our first ever "Seminar Series" where we invite community members to study and sing alongside the EE's Performing Artists as Artistic Director Gary D. Cannon leads a five day workshop on Ralph Vaughn Williams which will culminate in a performance of the Mass in G minor along with a performance of some of his lesser-known works for choir sung by the professional core. This fall, the choir will celebrate its sixth (!) anniversary with a celebratory concert of music that welcomes back our audience and performing artists to great choral music sung with passion and skill.
