STILL GOING STRONG!
Here are the updated numbers -- lbs of food delivered, numbers of families fed, number of people served, etc. -- for our COVID relief efforts. As you can see, thanks to your help and the help of 270 volunteers, we've have a serious positive impact on the lives of people living in the Tri-County Area.Â
But we can only continue to do so if we have food to deliver -- so please, help us reach out to others, people in your networks, to continue to raise the money we need to keep families fed!
COVID-19 has heightened our awareness of our vulnerability as individuals and our interdependency on one another -- and our need to come together as a community to support one another.
One essential system in our lives that is especially vulnerable to this crisis is our food system -- our ability to get the food that is produced to the people who need it most. And our goal with this fundraiser is to provide much needed support for that system.
At one end, we have thousands of people at risk of not having enough healthy food to eat, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. At the other end, we have local farmers who are also at risk -- as the restaurants, stores, and farmer's markets they normally sell to are reducing their hours or shutting down entirely, they have no one buying their produce!
With your help, our goal is to raise enough money to purchase this unsold produce from our local farmers and distribute it the families and vulnerable members of our community. 100% of the funds we raise will go towards getting the food from the local farmers into the hand of the people who need it most.
