Single Family Living

Single Family Living (SFL) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in the year 2013 in Michigan by a single parent, Jeri Hunley (Founder). Ms. Hunley was faced with isolation and preconceived stereotypes from society due to her marital status. As a concerned single parent for others in her similar situation, Ms. Hunley overcame these obstacles with help from her family. 

As a passionate single mom, our founder understands the trials & tribulations; the temporary setbacks, overcoming-the-odds, delays, sacrifice, the enjoyments, and the accomplishments of being a single parent. In 2013, Single Family Living (SFL) became a dream come true for Jeri Hunley by becoming a Non-Profit Organization. Try to live on your own terms & defy all odds against you!

In 2014 SFL started helping children from single parent homes; eradicating poverty, overcoming functional illiteracy; stabilizing financial equity in housing; mobilize equal learning globally by providing parenting workshops for single parents & their children ages 0-18 years old. We have provided over 8500 workshops and impacted thousands of children from single parent homes, throughout our service area which includes the Detroit Metro area, Flint/Saginaw area, Lansing area & Toledo Ohio region that has resulted in positive outcomes for thousands of families due to their dedication towards helping others achieve success through education. At Single Family Living, we are devoted to helping single parents and their children live their best lives. We do this by empowering them with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to overcome the challenges of being a single parent.

Try as we might make things better for our children when they are growing up we still have obstacles that need to be overcome before reaching our goal which is for them to be successful adults who can make it on their own without having to rely on anyone else for anything but love & support from family members & friends alike!

We are committed to serving those who need it most: children in underprivileged communities who do not have access to quality education due to economic or social circumstances. We will provide these children with an opportunity to learn through various educational programs that focus on literacy, math, and science while also providing them with support services such as tutoring and mentorship programs as well as community outreach events aimed at engaging families within their community.

We believe that each child deserves a safe place to grow up—a place where they can feel connected and supported by their family, community, and educational system. Our goal is to provide the youth with the tools they need to succeed so they can break free from the cycle of poverty.
